Painswick along with the FOD were two of the main place that introduced me to off road riding.
I remember a "downhill" bit of the Beacon called the "cabbage run". I was told it got the name as if you got if wrong you could end up like a cabbage ๐ฏ .... how very PC!
Does anyone else remember this?
I remember it used to be quite flowy and fast and not at all gnarly but good honest fun. The sort of place you could try and recreate Dirt ๐
Can you still ride up there?
Yes you can but the golfers have got grumpier over the years was up there Sunday on a CX bike very muddy there is a lot better trails in the Portway area behind the Royal William and Cranham these days still takes half the year to get dusty :lol:lovely views up there.
One of my favorite singletracks is the approach to Rococo from Painswick Beacon.
