Hi all

I’m trying to find a way to load a fit fe (so I suppose basically the gradient profile?) from a Strava route to be able to ride it on the smart trainer.

Makes a bit of variety from a training plan and will be interesting to see how it feels to real life.

I’m struggling to ‘get it in’ so to speak, can anyone give any pointers?

Ta

This is an idea I had the other day whilst out riding. The cafell climb at Cwmcarn always seems to brutalise me however fit I feel at the time. Wondered if riding it in Trainer Road a few times would help. I’m not sure quite how it would work or if it’s possible.

Rouvy might have a route or climb already available to ride on your turbo.

RGT has a "magic roads" feature, where you send them a decent quality GPX file of a route and they create a basic route for you to ride/race whenever.

https://whatsonzwift.com/gpx-to-zwift-workout might get you something close to what you want in Zwift.

You can do this in RGT but it's a premium feature (magic roads). However, you can try it with the 14 day free trial..

One of the virtual world type programmes lets you do it, cant remember which though Edit: It'll be RGT then ^. Also sounds like certain Wahoo and Garmin units will do it too: https://ridewithgps.com/help/riding-routes-indoors

A garmin head unit can control a smart trainer....
So, load it to a head unit and do the ride from there...

Yep that's the easiest option, so long as you have a Garmin of course...

I've done this with some local roads and using my Garmin Edge 530 to control the trainer.

Didn’t know that was possible, I’ve got a 530 so will have to read up!

You can do it with the 530, however I don't think you can run a training plan at the same time. I've done quite a few routes on the Garmin however they don't really mimic the real rides (I guess that can be trainer dependent) You may also need to adjust resistance etc., to get the right feel and speed.
