Can't find any information online about the weight of these 2 bikes, and how they compare to something like Frog Tadpole and Islabikes Rothan.

I know that many will recommend the Rothan and I have no doubt it is probably the best out there however I don't really want to spend over £100 (the Ridgebacks are c.£85).

They are heavier, but they are OK. My lads used a Scoot and both were fine. A good progression onto a pedal bike. Decathlon do a cheaper one with PU foam tyres. It is a lot lighter, but the brake lever (rear only) was on the wrong side. An easy fix...

Top tip with balance bikes, get a light one. You WILL end up carrying it. A lot. More than you think!

FWIW, Spesh Hotwalk was the lightest option when I bought one for my first, went through second child as well, then sold it for more than I'd paid for it. Which was nice! 😎

So, 2nd hand Hotwalk if you can.

I finally found the weight info so thought it might be useful to update for others.  Despite the Scoot being heavier (in comparison to the top end bikes below), it seems to be well recommended and a popular choice so will probably get one of those.

Islabike Rothan = 3.2kg

Frog Tadpole = 4.2kg

Specialized Hotwalk = 4.3kg

Ridgeback Dimension Runner = 4.6kg

Ridgeback Scoot = 5.3kg
