Officers are appealing for help to identify a cyclist who died after colliding with a car in the Scottish Borders. The incident happened on the A703 road just north of Peebles at about 16:20 on Monday.
Witnesses applied first aid until an air ambulance arrived but the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
He is described as a man aged between 40 and 50 and was wearing a yellow jacket and a blue and yellow cycle top.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said he appeared to have lost control of the bicycle, veered into the wrong lane and collided with a Fiat Panda.
He said the force was following a number of lines of inquiry, but it is believed the cyclist may have become unwell immediately prior to the collision.
The spokesman appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
