First thing I have no connection with Mike McDermind from BM ltd.
I was lucky enough to get a free newly manufactured WN30t ring from Mike McDermid http://bicyclemanufacturing.co.uk/ to try out for him. After speaking to him on the phone its obvious he is an engineer who is passionate about making quality products.
It is a raw no coating version of the one tymbian had tested here The ring has nothing to do with superstar components though, its all Mikes own work.
The WN ring fitted no problems at all and chainline was spot on.
My local ride area is a of peaty soil and granite dust, making a nice drive train destroying grinding paste. The WN ring seems to be wearing well for the bargain price he was selling them for on ebay.(no longer available on there)
I am running it with a XT 11-36, XT Clutch mech and KMC 10spd chain. Mike has had reports that the KMC chain was riding up this appeared not to be an issue with shimano chains, Mike has told me he resolved this issue now.
I personally never experienced this. It could have been that my KMC chain was part worn when I fitted the WN ring. I did try a new KMC chain and did get a see a small ride up of chain but nothing that would bother me.
Mike tells me that is doing a ceramic PTFE coating on the next batch. He was hoping to get a web shop up and running soon. I'll certainly be buying [s]one[/s] two of these from Mike when he has them ready, its also its keeping the British engineering industry alive.
Top product from Mike and BM ltd.
