Surely it should just be nipped up?

You've not gone and upgraded the Rockhopper have you? Hope you've bought something flash. It will make me a feel a bit better when you ride things I daren't!

I've got a meta 55 now. Bought it just before mini pook arrived! It's ace and I'm already beginning to do stuff I wasn't before.....

Anyway, this silver collar on the seatpost - does it affect the reverb action?

It's just a dirt seal - it doesn't hold pressure or anything. Just nip it up tight so it won't come undone. I'm sure you can find a torque figure somewhere online if you're that way inclined. I don't know why it would be affecting the action particularly (other than by a bit of extra friction).

Mine does this, loosens off during a ride and if I nip it up more than 'just' finger tight the post won't drop.

The collar does contain a bush I think (and cost about 40 quid on it's own) so I guess the fact that its a bush increases friction.

Don't know how to sort it, think mine might need a proper service.

Sorry Chris, no idea. Nipping the seat clamp to tight stops it working properly so I guess that silver collar could do the same.
