We will be in touch
My SRAM Dub that came on the MTB has reached end of life (<1000 miles). Its a bit disappointing but seems consistent with whats reported when you google!
I'd like to put something better in but keep the SRAM GX cranks.
I have Hope in another bike and have been impressed (so far).
Anyone else got experience of replacing one of these. It seems I need a conversion kit to reduce from 30mm to 28.99mm for the cranks. When I go onto CRC I can find two kits BB86(PF41) and BSA/PF30(PF46). Anyone know which kit I should buy or if there is a better option? The Hope BB is a bit expensive but if it lasts 3 times as long as the Dub its paid for itself!
Thanks in advance!
Can't help on that, but I just replaced my DUB BB for £15 from Alpkit's ebay store. Didn't get much milage out of mine either, but for £15 I don't mind.
I’ve had mixed experiences with dub - 1 lasted ok but 2 have lasted poorly.
I looked at Hope but actually bought a Wheels Manufacturing DUB one instead. Still quite a lot of money - but the screw in cups are bigger diameter so I think they’ve fitted in slightly bigger bearings. So far it’s lasting a lot better - checked it a few times and all still smooth. It does need a different tool to put in / out though - it’s a massive great thing compared to the dub tool.
I've had good experiences with Wheels Manufacturing 30mm BBs in the past so would hope the DUB ones are similarly decent.
I've just moved to new cranks and DUB on one of my bikes using the Hope 30mm BB (had one in the shed) and converters. If you have a threaded BB shell then you need the threaded Hope BB and BSA/PF30(PF46) adapter kit.
Bear in mind that you may need a different tool for either or both of the above bottom brackets as they have different diameter and notch count.
Thanks all. Really helpful re the hope converters and hadn't seen the wheels BB before. Looks like I might need new tools too!
Don't get the Nukeproof dub BB.
Lasted 8 months before bearings were knackered.
Mate had same one and his lasted just 6 months.
I bought a Nukeproof one recently because CRC claimed a 2 year warranty on it! Not great to hear them failing after 6 months, I wonder would you get anywhere with a warranty claim. I figured 2 years would be a hell of a lot longer than I've gotten out of the last 3 SRAM ones I had.
+1 on nukeproof. It had a hard but very short life (trying to locate a nasty squeak that surely couldn’t be the ‘new’ bottom bracket’) I now buy sram and lower expectations. Also a breaker bar for the faff of taking the crankset off.

I would definitely be giving it a go - CRC state "Nukeproof is also offering a two-year warranty on their bottom brackets including the bearings."
I just wondered if the OP got the bike new and if the factory put enough grease or any grease at all. I have had mine for a year and installed it myself. I opened it up recently to clean and regrease as it takes 5mn. Looked good and totally smooth.
I bought a 30mm hope BB. It came including the spacer for DUB. It does need a specific tool.
Yes. Got bike new with this BB. Possible not enough grease but has the same sound as previously worn out BB's on other bikes. Still feels smooth. May just buy replacement parts as it will undoubtedly fail at some point. If the Dub looks ok might try a bit of grease to extend the life!
Even press fit shouldn't fail after just 1000miles, whatever manufacturer you chose to replace it with, I think you'd do yourself a favour by trying to get to the bottom of why its failed in such a short time.

The Nukeproof DUB in my Spesh has done 18months and is trouble free, I started to have a creak the other day when I was cranking up a sheepish pitch, but it turned out to be my left hand grip!
Just unlucky with the Nukeproof I guess. Went for the anodised blue as it matched my P7.
I'm back on a SRAM BB and so far it's spot on.
I did contact CRC and they offered to replace but got a refund as they didn't have any SRAM BB at the time.
I may be in the minority but I just use the SRAM DUB BB's, I find they last about year which doesn't sound long but its probably 2000 miles in all weathers including being sprayed with salt and crap behind the car in winter. Not terrible for £30 odd.
I bought an Uberbike one. 2nd set of bearings now but first set did about 2 years of South Wales slop.
Still on the original SRAM one that came with my bike. 1,600 miles and still smooth as 'owt.
Could this be a water ingress thing i.e. poor seals? I hardly ever ride in the wet and have only washed the bike twice since I bought it which may be why its lasted so long?
Be a bit careful if buying a Hope replacement.. I bought one along with a 'DUB conversion' kit (£15 extra) only to find there was a conversion kit already included with the BB.
I've used a few brands on a couple of bikes and had very mixed experiences.
Uberbike - Terrible, last 5 minutes
SRAM - Lasted well considering (around 12 months in all weather)
Nukeproof - Felt rough from day 1. Replaced after 6 months
Chris King - Still going strong after 2 years
Hope - No issues, around 12 months old now
Hope now includes the adaptor needed.they use the exact same bearings as the nukeproof (enduro) but the design is different hence why the np one fails premature as the bearings get squished too much .
I get good life out of the std dub for what they cost
I think On One are (unsurprisingly) selling SRAM DUBS for £20.00
Standard BSA not press fit though
