The top seal on Katie's Canyon Spectral is mashed. The 5th part down from the top in the pic below - a thin, soft metal washer with a pale blue rubber seal around the edge. The seal is is bits and the metal is all out of shape - i dont know whether it was assembled wrong at some time, or if the "impact protection unit" getting knocked in crashes caused it to fail.
Whatever, Canyon have a complete parts breakdown for the frame but it just lists the headset as a single part. The bearings are still running smooth (although there was fair bit of dirt on top of the top one as the seals not working very well....
Any ideas? i don't really want to replace the whole headset .
nobody? Do i just suck it up and buy a whole new top half of the headset (or better, buy one that actually has effective seals?)
