My son has a pristine 2009 Spesh Hardrock Sport 2009 ([url= http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/hardrock-sport-2009-mountain-bike-ec016011#features ]this one[/url]). He'd like to upgrade forks and fit it with disc brakes etc (I already have a spare set of disc wheels and brakes for him). What forks would be suitable? In terms of spec, something a bit better than it already has (up to the task of regular trail centre visits and XC - no extreme downhilling). Does it have to be 80mm travel or can it go higher? What spec fork would actually fit? Would it need a new headset?
I appreciate it may be easier to buy a new bike but this one's in great condition and I can cannibalise parts from other bikes, so it's just the forks really.
