Hello

I've mainly been riding road bikes for the last few years and now feel the urge to return to doing primarily off road XC and some blue trail stuff.

I’d like a replacement full suss for my older Scot Spark RC that has electric gears and 110 front suspension and not a PF BB.

Any suggestions on what’s about and worth looking at? I’m fairly out the loop now.

TIA.

I think the newer sparks still have a PF BB sadly.

£2.5 gets you a 4 ride old stumpy evo expert carbon 🙂

Assuming your hesitance to have PF if from issues on your current spark, it's likely it was the sram dub BB that was the problem, not the pf standard.

The newer spark is an excellent bike.

buy a threadfit BB from Works Mfg and sorted

Did that when i built up an Orro Gold STC w PF BB, and it has been flawless

Epic Evo from 2023 or before or a new epic 8, I used to ride sparks had 4 of them over the years but the new one with all the integration is too complex, so switched over to epics evo from 2022, superb bikes, similar geometry and travel/weight to sparks but a lot easier to maintain and work on, and most of all I think they ride better

Both Wheels Manufacturing and Hope do excellent pushfit replacements so don’t let that guide you!

Canyon lux trail. Similar relaxed XC weight idea.

Orbea oiz might also be worth a look.

Thanks for the ideas chaps.

Any thoughts on the 2024 Cannondale Scalpel 2?

I’m quite tempted to just put a Hope BB on my Spark and some carbon wheels, unless the more modern bikes do ride better for easy trails?

I was going to suggest that, sort the current spark. It's still a very competent platform. I've got an '18 and had a '11 one before that that i snapped.

Don't think there are any of the parts that are on out of date standards.
