Anyone had this done, specifically replacing a zip? Cost? Any recommendations please?

Thanks.

If you've got a replacement zip then a local cobbler will have the needles/sewing machine capable of doing the job

Ask the manufacturer? Most bag manufacturers are pretty small so will take their own kit in to repair.

Alpkit as mentioned above will repair any brand.

Unless it's a really good bag it's probably not cost effective to repair. That doesn't mean you shouldn't just because we live in a throw away society.

I'd start with visiting my local alpkit as they are really helpful and skillful when I've chatted to them.

I taught myself to sew so I could make my own gear. I always take a needle and thread with my on a tour in case I need to repair anything. It's not actually that hard. Learning to use a sewing machine was the hardest part.

I sometimes buy cheap bags and then adapt them to my preference, adding strength, replacing buckles and sometimes if I have time a logo 🤣

Give it a go yourself if the quotes are high and use it as practice.

Post some pictures of the faulty zip and we can give you some advice and tips on where to start. Good luck

Also where abouts are you in case someone who is nearby can help?

Zips are always the weak point on bike bags. If it's got a water resistant coil zipper, you should see if you can have it replaced with a bigger (#8 or #10) Vislon one which are much easier to clean and less prone to failure!
