ive got a 20 tooth dicta freewheel with no notches for fitting a tool is there a way of removing it without a trip to a bike shop or destroying it ?
Old thread here might help! I used the dismantle / grip in vice / turn wheel method to get the original Dicta off my Inbred, and then replaced it with an ACS which has slots so you can use a proper tool as above!
HTH
destroy, discard, replace.
There is something on a Dicta freewheel that you can grip, I have removed several.
If it looks like the pic (probably not going b what you say ) then use a tool or as I did a bit of 1/4" bar cut to fit in and held in a vice. I have also used a couple of large old fashioned head set spanners held in the viceto allow the freewheels to be gripped.
Just checked , mine are all as shown. So try the bit of flat bars trick.
Useless bits of junk , they don't last in mud but are cheap so handy to experiment with.I use Shimano DX which are still only sub 20 quid.
