so i have a gt aggressor frame which comes with disc and canti mounts.im planning on using discs only so may well remove the canti mounts but was toying with the idea of removing the chain or seat stay bridge as well.
any opinions/experiance on this? which is the better to remove? the frame is not the lightset tube set in the world so im thinking its probably not goint to wwaeken it loads and it wont be ridden in to many radical gnar situations(dude!) just xc.
any one else done this type of thing?

If you're getting the angle grinder out you could probably do without most of the seat tube too, sure, it'll be fine, just ride it nice and light, and stand up on the pedals as much as possible. It's probably just a redundant bit of metal that the frame designers threw in there for no reason. Probably!

Seriously, I think your efforts might be spent elsewhere. You'll weaken the whole rear end.

ok well im only considering it, hence why i asked here.
i belive one of charge or kinesis's frames doesnt have a seat stay bridge so they can be made without, but i suppose they may well factor that into the design. i saw on another wab page some one had removed the seat stay bridge as they were ditching the cantis and they thus wouldnt be "pushing the stays apart" so to speak. wrong??

I've seen it done (chainstay bridge removed to improve mud clearance) before with a similarly 'not-light' frame and the owner's still using it with no problems. It is a gamble though so it's really up to you and if it was mine I wouldn't bother unless there was a good reason.

sell it on ebay and find a second hand maxlight frame on the bay.

Simple as this.. if tyre clearance is the issue.. don't exceed the sensible max for the frame.

If it's weight related don't bother. It really makes bugger all difference in the grand scheme of things.
