My headset had corroded badly and the outer edge has bonded with the race set within a carbon frame.

This had happened to the uppper and lower.

Does anyone have any tip to extract the remains of the headset without destroying the frame? 68

I've read a few suggestions to soak in penetrating oil but I'm nervous that this may also penetrate the carbon and weaken the headtube.

What frame and what are you trying to remove?

Are you trying to get the bearings out or the cups?

I can't imagine there are many carbon frames that have Cups you can remove anymore.

I always found half a kettle of boiling water helped move things along a bit.

It's a Canyon Neuron. The headset has come with the exception of the outer ring as shown here:

The Acros headset that came on my old YT Jeffsy cf had the bearings bonded/pressed into the cups and the whole headset had to be removed and replaced when the bearings need changing. Not sure if all Acros headsets are like that but several people tried and failed to get the bearings out due to fear of wrecking the frame. I ended up putting a Hope in to replace it
