After a good day at Afan I found my first ever tick on my leg this morning.

I removed it using tweezers (pretty sure I got it all out) but like the numbnuts I am I dropped it on the floor. Now I can't find it. Will he hunt me down for revenge? I've hoovered so hopefully that's got him.

Any tips on how to treat tick bites

I was thinking about ticks only this weekend. There was a program on Friday or Saturday night about parasites & this bloke stuck a tick on himself to show how well they grip on. The things head had virtually disappeared. They pulled it out with tweezers & then had to dig around for the jaws. Bleurgh....

On my ride round Rutland Water (of all places) yesterday I was paranoid I was going to get infested (due to the amount of grazing sheep!)

What's the best way of getting them off? I have heard alcohol works, as does covering them in vaseline as they suffocate & have to fall off. Not sure how 'instant' that is compared to tweezers though.

Pull them out using a tick twister or a similar special tool.

Some ticks are made from carbon fibre...if any shards are in your body...

TBH, I think you'll have to move house.

Alcohol, vaseline, twisting anti clockwise to remove etc etc are are all old wifes tales. Fingernails or preferably tick tweezers

and keep an eye out for the symptoms of Lymes disease.............- bulls eye rash.
Chances of getting Lymes much reduced if you remove the tick within 24 hours.
