Is the absolute saddest, crappest thing anyone can ever do!!!
You really haven't lived much have you...
Don't tell my bike that, she'll get upset
Ahhh someone get out the wrong side of the bed?
That applies to a lot of thing. I know I use the phrase "come on Betsy" to a number of things. Lawnmower, car etc.
I would find it worse if you referred to your bike as a he!
Bloke who sits opposite me refers to everything in that way.
His van, his bike.
And yesterday his... iPad. "She's good for wireless access"
๐
That's nothing. I saw a TV advertisement the other day where a pretty woman was referring to her cat as 'Lucy'. Lucy the cat FFS.
I always refer to my Jake as 'he' or 'him'...he does have a boy's name after all
Damned lucky you don't live in Oz then. Whole country's built on 'she'll be right'.
That Maverick I bought off you had a girl's name on the headtube - is that why you sold it so quickly? ๐
my bike is isnt known as 'she' or 'her' i guess it must be sommot like the.. 'green mean grilling' machine cos its gets a grilling ! ๐
Really? You can't imagine anything sadder or crapper?
Mine are 'the grey one' and 'the white one'!
Is at as sad as texting hundreds of wikipedia entries to your sisters-in-law as a 'joke'? ๐
It's a hangover from an earlier incarnation of our language when it was more heavily influenced by the languages that it is made up of..
If you notice.. all continental languages assign a gender to all sorts of wierd and wacky stuff..
I happen to agree with an enormous number of people that think it's like.. literally.. the saddest and actually crappest thing like.. ever and stuff.. to be compelled to post whatever pointless and random thoughts that happen to float into your vacuous little head on an internet forum..
If it's sharp fast andfearless it's a she.
If it's big hefty and getts through stuff with sheer aggresion and wilfull refusal to be bogged down it's a he.
If you're really that bothered by affection for inanimate objects, you're not busy enough.
It's worse for me:
'We're off for a ride now...'
er, that would be just me and the bike ๐ฅ
She's a beauty!!

Will a mod ban this muppet please.
comes from the naval tradition of calling boats by a womans's name, and the latinate languages where inaminate objects are given a "sex" (une velo). I did once name all of my bikes after ex girlfriends to help me come to terms with selling them...
I hope, in a naval tradition, that my bike is able to float this afternoon...

That would depend on whether you've had your Fox forks serviced I should imagine... ๐
Actually it's "un" velo.
Actually it's "un" velo.
Is it? Good job we're not French then hey?
In this country.. Inanimate modes of transport tend to be referred to as feminine..
I call mine Derrick how does that fair then???
I refer to my bike as a 'he', and call him The Professor. I'm glad it's the saddest and crappest thing I can do, it means I can sink no further! Live action roleplay, here I come!
