[Closed] Recommendations: QR/12mm rear hubs and taper/regular headsets. What's good?

Seriously contemplating moving from a 2008 Five (which I absolutely love) to an Alpine 160.

Basically, my new hardtail is actually very good in most places I'd normally use the Five, and there's been a few times in the past few years where I've felt a little under-gunned on the Five in the Alps/Spain.

Consequently it seems like a good time for a change.

The Five has some great kit on it, but the big difference is the seatpost size (27.2 to 30.9), headset (1 1/8 to taper) and rear axle (QR to 12mm).

Both the hardtail and the Five run 20mm forks and I do swap the wheels around quite a bit.

With this is mind, does anyone know of a rear hub that switches from QR to 12mm and back fairly easily?

And what experience have people had with taper-to-regular headset converters?

Someone must have a little nugget of knowledge they want to share...

Hope pro2.
I've got a 135x12 conversion kit spare. Not a car-park pre ride faff job (even by your standards), but easy enough to swap.

What about by Ginger Steel or Woj standards?

I think the new Pro2 Evo hub is converable at the rear just by the end caps, they certainly do not have a dedicated QR axle going by the exploded view.

The only thing is, for the price of a new Pro 2 evo rear wheel you could probably buy a second hand pair of Pro 2 wheels on reasonable rims to have a pair for each bike.

Ah, woj standards. That's different. You shouldn't need to use a gas hob as a blow-torch to get you going...

Cheers Rusty Mac - I'll look into it. Trying to avoid the different wheels for bikes (both are tubeless, so swap wheels intead of tyres) but if needs must...

Woj standards are a standard on their own... ๐Ÿ˜‰
