[Closed] Recommendations please for some cheap (but good) bars and a stem

My eldest lad is looking to spend some of his birthday money on some wider bars and a shorter stem for my old Santa Cruz Heckler that he now rides. He really doesn't like the 620mm ones that are on it now so was looking at some 700-720mm bars and a 30-40mm stem.
Does cheap necessarily mean crap when you are buying this kind of stuff?
He is looking at "cheap as chips" so can anyone recommend any bargains out there
Thanks

Handlebars are probably not the best place to skimp. Search CRC by price, low-high, and see what comes up.

Cheap is a relative term.
Good value, look for the RSP (Raleigh) dh carbon bars. 780mm of lightness. They weigh nowt.
I have two pairs and love them. Obviously you could cut them to suit but once I got used to them, I loved the width.

Stem, Funn Funduro. Light, cheap, short, ...um...stemmy?

I don't have a stem but I think might still have an easton monkeylite dh 711mm carbon bar and a Pro Atherton alu 740mm, you can have either for nowt as long as you don't mind waiting til next week for post...

(the monkeys are pretty beaten up, but they're easton dh bars so even beaten up they're still strong like ox... The Athertons are nicer nick but heavier obviously)

I bought an RSP 50mm stem for my lads bike for £16 I think. Great little stem.

I've also used funn fatboy bars that were cheap from crc and el guapo's from on one Never had an issue with either of them.

Cheers for all the info and big thanks to "Northwind" and "Chestrockwell" really appreciate the offer of the freebee's 🙂
The Easton carbon ones sound like they will be the best width for him. The geometry on the bike is quite old school so don't want to go to wide, so 711 should be spot on.
Northwind - Let me know how you want me to send you some cash to cover the postage costs?
Paypal is probably the easiest? (Not sure how to private message on here so hopefully you will see this)

Thanks again

Phil

I'd also recommend Funn kit.

I'm currently running one of their 750mm Fatboy riser bars and its not a bar bit of kit. I think it cost £25 from CRC.

I also ran one of their Funnduro stems for a while which was a thing of beauty and stiff as a rock but I didn't get on with the stack height or rise so sold it on the classifieds.
