Recently we (wife and Daughter) spent a great long weekend at a campsite that was right on the Tissington trail, fantastic riding straight from the site with safe, non road, access to the Tissington trail. Daughter is being towed in a Charriot, the Tissington trail meant you could have a great ride to a local pub or Ashbourne, Tissington Village etc.
Were hoping to go for a week in September doing similar, can anyone recommend another good destination in the UK where non traffic family cycling is good ? Would prefer something on the coast, I recall there was an old railway cycle route down in Devon somewhere ?
many thanks.
ahh, maybe should take this question to a CTC type forum ?
There's some good stuff around the New Forest
Lochgilphead. You've got the Crinan Canal towpath for traffic free family stuff plus the Fire Tower Trail for mountain biking. You can also take day trips with the bikes over to islands like Gigha, which are great for family cycling.
West Devon / East Cornwall.
Plym Trail, Tarka Trail, Camel Trail - all easy off road and very scenic. Also some more progressive stuff on Dartmoor
+1 for epic steves suggestion, did all this with my sprogs in april and it was great. heading to wales next; was there last year and lots of great family routes.....
cool, some good ideas to research, many thanks all.
