I am a keen XC rider living in Canberra. My brother lives in Basingstoke and wants to spend about 500 pounds on a bike for road/exercise use. I can give him some recommendations from Australia, but he will need an lbs for maintenance etc as it's not his forte. Can anyone recommend a shop that he could get to for decent bike advice and service? Cheers.

Pedal On in Tadley seem pretty decent to me. Good
range of bikes and kit, decent staff... 🙂

I live in Basingstoke and use Cycle Kingdom in Fleet. Their service is good and they specialise in Specialized!

Just looked up the Giant pricing at the above shops…I'm in shock - you guys get a rough deal on the complete bikes!
I just bought an Anthem 29er here and paid just a little bit more in dollars than you are paying in pounds! Guess you don't get stung as much for spares as we do…but I use CRC and Wiggle too!
Thanks again for the recommendations.

Hargroves in Winchester?

Short train journey away. I don't use the Winchester shop but do use two of their others regularly (nearer home / work)

+1 for Banjo and Pedal On. Your not too far from wokingham either, so depending on what you're after Mountain Trax is worth a look. Always found them to be very helpful, especially when I sheared a bolt head off a pivot on my blur the day before a biking holiday!
