Recommend me a MTB ...

[Closed] Recommend me a MTB tyre for road use that'll handle the odd off road jaunt.

I do most of my riding on road with the occassional detore off road. My tyre of choice is the Intense System 3 but I've had so many fail on me (bulging tread and the cords pulling away from the inside of the casing) that I'm looking for something else.

I'm currently trying Michelin XC Dry2s but they just seem too knobbly and draggy on the road (which is the priority). Ideally I'd like something around the 2.0" mark (I'm likely to be going rigid so a bit of cushioning would be nice) and less than 600g.

There's a bewildering choice of tyres and I'm not sure what might suit.

I've just bought a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Cross to provide an on/off-road tyre for some long-distance rides I fancy.

I like the Contintental Race King (2.2 but narrower might work better?). When I put that just on the front of my bike (replacing a balding nevegal) it sped it up a lot so I can imagine two would be even faster.

I have looked at the Marathon Cross, I fancy it's a bit heavy on paper, how do you find it? I'm also wondering about the Hutchinson Python range, they look a possibility.

What's the durability like for the Race Kings?

Conti Traffic. Suprisingly good offroad as well including going uphill on loose packed dirt, pine needles etc. Not tried them in mud though,

What about the Maxxis Aspen, or is that going to be a bit knobbly for road use? The Panaracer Mach SS looks good and suprisingly light for a steel bead tyre.

Does anyone know where I can get a folding version of the Mach SS?

Most commuting tyres if your daft will just be inappropriate but fun off road.

I use Spesh Armadillo Nimbus tyres and they are useless offroad but fun
