I often park up the bike and go for a wander when out riding and obviously need to lock it up. I currently have a Kryptonite New York 3000 D-Lock which is Sold Secure Gold and a pretty impressive piece of kit, but it's really heavy to cart around in my backpack and I'm after a lighter lock that's still secure and a good compromise between weight and strength for when the bike's not left for too long.

Abus seem to produce some lightish 'Sold Secure Silver' units that fit the bill, but I was wondering what other folk use.

Google "secondary locks lfgss" which is the little sister of the "lfgss locks that work" thread.

From there I've just bought Onguard brute mini for less than £15. Small light but feels fairly substantial for nipping to the shop.

Edit: I also have a heavy bad boy from their locks that work list for when required
