Right then, having done a few CX races on an MTB I've decided I enjoy it enough to splash out an a "proper" CX bike.
Any recommendations at around the £1k mark?

Thanks.

Kona Jake the Snake, I love mine although you might not class it as a 'proper' cx bike.

I had to cancel an order for a Focus from Wiggle due to credit problems and now no job so good thing. It was less than £800 in November and you could get 12 months interest free on it. Can't remember the model, I was going for a disk braked version but there are plenty to choose from.

Thanks all.

@ Teetosugars - thanks for the offer but I'm "daaarn saaaarf", sadly.

Th Focus ones on Wiggle do look good, as does the BMC they have on there.

hmmmmm - decisions, decisions.

Choice is endless. For some reason I'm looking for one myself I've narrowed it down to the Trek X0, spec tricross o mst likely the cannondale CX 9

Ridley do good cx bikes down to around 700 quid now and their pedigree is excellent...

There was a brill full carbon Spesh one in Don Skene in Cardiff, I think it was £1200 or thereabouts but it was full carbon frame and forks, and ultegra.

MRB - I am selling my 18" Specialized S-Works HT, race bread. Virtually brand new, i've ridden only a couple of times.

I have a bmc cx02 (from wiggle), seems OK, reasonable wheels, was bizarre to have a 120mm stem on a 54cm frame, wheels seem OK. 105 mings, might swap it all for Centaur if I can get a ED10 freehub for the wheels.

Very pleased with my Focus Mares Expert

Blimey they've gone up!

If I was buying one today I'd definitely consider the Croix De Fer

Although 105 is ugly, the frame is a bit more versatile, maybe more comfy too but a bit heavy for racing?
