My 6yo has outgrown his 14" Ridgeback MX14 and wants a new bike for his birthday in a couple of weeks. He wants something that looks suitably mountain bikey and I want him to have something that he can join me on the easier bits of the local trail center on.
Looked at Hoy, Islabikes and Frog, but I can't make up my mind.
Any ideas?
20" Isla. Or equivalent. Isla's work very well here.
At 6 you probably want the Large Beinn 20 too.
Pointless going smaller wheels as they generally have no gears and the small ones are a boon for 6Yo.
Have avoided 20" as his older brothers 20" Dawes has a top tube that's too long for him... but I'll check out the Beinn. Cheers.
How tall is he? Most 6 year olds are big enough for 20" wheels. Scott voltage 20" is a cool wee bike but much heavier than frog, Isla etc
We went with second hand Spesh/Trek/Ridgeback for our two, but have recently got a Frog, lovely little bike.
Cost more than all their previous bikes combined though.
20" ridgeback is a decent bike too - my son did the Glenlivet red on one age 7 and it lived to tell the tale!
Early rider do a 20" belt drive looks awesome.
