Managed to get a hole in my rear tyre tonight it's a Bontrager R3 32c and scrapped. It's only about a month old, came with the bike, and I don't fancy replacing it with the same. What are other people riding and can recommend?
GP5000S TR. Lovely tyre, but expensive.

i've covered thousands of miles on Bontrager R3's without any major issue and would recommend them to anyone 🙂
I don't know about the GP5000 bit I've had GP4000's for years and they just keep going, they've very grippy too. I assume the 5000 is as good
I had been planning on getting some Pirelli Cinturato for my winter road bike/commuter. Apparently roll well, grippy in wet, thick thread so fewer punctures etc. Heavier than GO5000 though.
Or Vittoria Corsa Next? Another fast roller, lighter than the Pirelli, more sturdy than the standard Corsa. Sounds like it compares well against the Continental.
NOT Hutchinson Storms. They have a serious problem with delamination. I've had two fail because of this and a friend who finished LEL last night had a brand new one that started to fail on the return leg. Such a shame as they are otherwise good tyres.

I'd look at what people ride on the transcontinental. Mostly gp5ks and pro ones in wider sizes.
I've always been curious about Corsa controls though if the roads were a little tougher.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I was just unlucky with the Bontragers, up until that point I was happy with them. The horrible Trek sealant wouldn't seal the hole and a plug wouldn't stay fixed.
I had Conti's 4 seasons years ago and was happy with them but don't know anything of the newer range.
After washing the tyre and inspecting it, I don't think anything was going to seal the hole.
How much endurance does the OP want…? Cos all the recommendations so far have pretty much been for high performance tyres with less of a regard towards durability…
If durability is high on the agenda, then consider the Schwalbe One (NOT Pro One), as it’s about 99% of the performance of the Pro One, £15 cheaper, only marginally heavier, increased puncture protection and a harder wearing compound that typically will see twice the mileage of a Pro One like for like…

and I would still prefer a Durano.
As mboy points out it is durability I'm more concerned about than speed. But saying that I don't want something weighing a ton with a dead feel. I'm expecting to pay £100 or thereabouts for a pair.
