That's sturdy - maybe even ebike sturdy

And not hundreds of £££, preferably sub £100

Thanks

Merlin do one that fluctuates in price between £50 and £100. Seems good to me.

"I'd like to buy a unicorn please?"

Doesn't exist. Cheaper ones are ok, but tend to not have enough weight in the bases. I've got a value one that I've had for 15 years and it's still working ok, but every time it topples over when I'm working on something I wish that it would break so that I could go an buy a decent (expensive) one.

I did kinda think that may be the case

My park tools one is ok now I’ve had them send me the extra safety collar thing. It’s a 10.2 and initially you had to do the qr up very tight to stop it collapsing forward. There was a mid production additional collar that sits above the qr and now they’ve sent me that (for free, along with a new qr) it’s very sturdy. Maybe try and pick one of those up secondhand?

The new version (10.3) is presumably good but double your budget.

The only thing that slightly annoys me is the main arm doesn’t trust round as the pole is oval rather then round - so if you want to move the bike round you have to move the base.

A cheap one and a couple of breeze blocks?

I’ve had a cheap Lidl one for 10+ years.

It’s “OK”, but it’s been modified with plenty of long bolts and nuts to stop certain tubes from twisting. The clamp has all but given up.

I’d always recommended something similar when people have asked your question OP. But I picked up a second hand Park Tools PCS 10 for £60 off marketplace. It’s a completely different animal. It will hold any of my bikes at any angle without tipping. The only issue is that it weighs a metric-shit-tonne. Which when you think about it is a positive.

Mine was from Aldi about 10 years ago. Still going strong. The feet splay out quite some way, so I’ve never had the toppling over.

It probably could handle an e-bike, but I would be a bit nervous.

@Del

A cheap one and a couple of breeze blocks?

I found that fertilized bags worked slightly better, but they don't eliminate the problem entirely.

Ended up with the Merlin one for £40

Seems to do the job it was designed to do

That Merlin one looks suspiciously like the Lidl one I own. Mine has feet you can secure but other than that it's identical.

Leisure Lakes Bikes have the older PCS 10 at £157.49. It's a heavy beast and will supposedly hold 36kg. I have one and like it, but my commuter ebike isn't that heavy at 16kg.

The PCS10.2 had a few upgrades: easier to fold legs, a teardrop shape vertical tube that can't rotate, and a welded-on metal clamp housing instead of a bolt-on plastic housing. But it also had a poor screw-fixing mechanism to secure the legs, apparently prone to collapsing with heavier bikes, that was changed to a latching mechanism on the PCS 10.3.

As the PSC 10's legs are more solid than the 10.2, a PCS 10 on sale might be a good bet.

EDIT: I just noticed the question's a month old 😀
