My 6 year old Giro E2 is finally falling apart, and my natural response was to obviously try and find a new E2 being that it's been excellent. But I understand it has been discontinued now, and also I'm on a bit more of a budget and don't fancy spending £100 or so really...

So, bearing in mind I've not been paying attention to the Helmet market for a few years really, and I see there's LOADS in the Giro range now, what do you reckon I should get, preferably under £60? I don't mind (actually would prefer it if it's cheaper) buying online, I know my size in a Giro at least (I'm a 60, so yup, I need a Large in most Helmets sadly!)...

Oh, and I often use a torch on my head for night riding, so would prefer if there was a central ridge (if that makes sense) as opposed to vents down the centre... So I could mount the torch centrally as I do on my E2. Though it wouldn't be a deal breaker I suspect, I could always find another way of mounting the torch.

Fox Flux for me.

Vented like an E2 with protection like a Xen (and they're all made in the same factory).

+1 for the Fox Flux

Looks cool in Re-entry red flamejob too. I prefer mine to the Giro Xen it replaced, however I'm struggling for torch mounting on mine.

After more of a traditional XC type lid than those suggested so far to be fair, and I'll be sticking with Giro I reckon as their Crash Replacement policy has saved my pocket a couple of times before after destroying lids in crashes!

How does the Giro Phase, or even the Athlon (if anybody knows where to get one cheap enough) stack up? And like I say, it MUST be easy enough to mount my P7 torch to...

Bought a Fox Flux this year.

great fit, very comfortable, good protection paticularly around the back.

Get's my vote.

Giro Hex or Phase. I have both and they are equally as comfortable.
Phase looks a bit more 'mushroom-heady' on me though.
I also have a Uvex xp100 which is just as comfy, but looks better! 😆

Fox Flux looks nice, but the fit is no good for me, it really hurts the top of my (somewhat pointy) head.
