I let Halfords have another look at the bike. I took the bike in last Monday and am still waiting to get my bike back.

Apparently the forks went back to Fishers and they say there is no problem with it and has been verified by more than one Fishers technician. This is at odds with my experience of the lockout working when it was new and then not after a few rides. The bike guy at Halfords also agreed with me otherwise he would not have sent it back twice.

So when I get my bike back tomorrow (hopefully) I expect it will no different from when it went in and I'll be at a stalemate with Halfords. They can only agree with what Fishers said.

I had a chat with TF Tuned and they've told me about checking the amount of travel as someone said in the previous thread. They also said even a working lockout will allow between 5-10mm of travel. However mine measures more like 25mm.

I just wondered how this stacks up against other people's Rebas and if there really is a problem how to proceed?

Cheers

Matt

My Rebas don't really lock out, it's more of a move less option. I'll test it but bet I can get 25mm movement while 'locked out'

Doesn't bother me though

My Reba Teams don't lock out either, but the poplock cable is a bit slack so i never turn the dial all the way

Pretty much the same for me as well. I've always considered they move quite a lot for somthing that's supposed to be locked out, even accepting the fact they have that blow off feature to protect them if you forget to unlock them on rough stuff. Mine make a noise like Ivor the Engine when locked out and honking uphill, which is that blowoff valve working. Seems like more movement recently though, perhpas after 3 1/2 years it's time they were serviced 😳

They don't have a lock out, only a low speed compression adjustment and adjustable blow off.

When you 'lock them out' you close of the compression port, but it will still open given sufficient oil pressure (set by the 'floodgate' setting).

However, if the floodgate is set high and the 'lock out' doesn't do anything for the first part of the travel, you probably have a low oil level.
If it doesn't do anything through the whole travel range then you probably have a busted seal.
