I'm looking at a new CX bike, my current one has a 90mm stem and a layback post.

The question is, how much real world difference would an increase in stack of 10mm and reach of 5mm make, would it all be adjustable out to mimic the position on my current bike with a different stem and post and some spacer adjustment?

I've just dropped my stem on my cx bike by 20mm (lots of spacers)becuase the new bike I'm planning on has an 8mm lower stack. So far I can tell little differnece in riding but I feel slightly less confident re-mounting.

Presumably a neagtive rise stem would see you good - or not having spacers under the stem if you have any at the mo. Although obvs if you go from spacers to no spacers the 5mm reach difference will be extneded slightly
