OK,so maybe it isn't.Crikey here goes had normal gears when I first started riding, thought it was as good as it gets. Then I purchased an Orange specd with Dual Control and RR. Initially(2 days or so) struggled with misshifting ,however once learned realised that when you need to upshift faster i.e. when dropping cogs going uphill, rapid rise is far superior to normal derailing in as much as the spring does the shifting rather than the cable resulting in less crunching under load. Am I alone in thinking this as RR generally gets a caning?

P.S. Dual Control.. not so good...

Dual control is awesome, you're obviously just strange ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rapid rise just makes sense to me, but then I don't struggle with shifting with the other set-up either. I've yet to come across a scenario where I can't back off the pressure for a second to shift.

I love Rapird rise, and struggle to see why nobody else does.

I have both RR and normal shifting on my bikes as well as gripshift on another. It's all fine, works well and I don't care. Is it really beyond an average STW forum user's brain to work it out?
