Forgot about the clocks changing this morning and arranged to have a bbq this afternoon so going to go for a pedal tomorrow. Pretty sure Ill go with the cross bike as just after a long winding ride so prob need some road action but equally if you have decent mtb sites let me know.

Someone was good enough to send me a route last time I asked but wanted to see if there was anything else worth exploring too.

Do you have an OS map? If so, try the bridleway network south of Derby around Ticknall/Swarkestone (not sure where you're riding from) but can easily get to it from the city centre via the old canal path.

Otherwise there's a decent road/off-road route west out of the city via Markeaton Park, alongside Kedleston Park, Mercaston, north to Windley, Hazelwood, Chevinside and then back to Derby.

Or...north out of Derby via Breadsall, loop around via Long Eaton and Coxbench, up to Drum Hill, through Morley towards Stanley and back into town via Locko Park.

If you've got the time, head out to belper, over the Chevin; crossdown to the a517, up longwalls lane at Blackbrook towards the ariels at Alport cutting across to Shining Cliff woods at Ambergate. There are plenty of little bits you can throw in with road links, such as the Woods at Drum Hill, a little bit of stuff behind houses in Coxbench, which you can link over to Belper with the Bridleway down past the Holly Bush in Mackney. Near Ambergate you can cross over to Crich Chase, and on a road bike some of the roads around Alport and down and around to Wirksworth are quite nice, with some reasonable climbs.
