Anyone taken a look at the steel Ragley... http://www.shedfire.com/
Anyone/Brant have an idea on weight for the steel version?
Stays look really long, is it a 29er?
26" wheels and same geometry as the Ragley Ti.
what fork length is it designed for?
Dont like the finish ๐
what fork length is it designed for?
Knowing Brant's marketing methods, it'll fit all of them.
Especially yours.
Whatever length they happen to be.
one fourty forks.
Sixteen and three quarter back end.
looks a bit ermmm thin..... ๐
looks ****in lovely !
38mm dt. 32 to 34mm tt. Skinny rear stays. Braaap.
Braaap.

Bolt on cable guide samples have landed. Pics soon.
Cool name Brant!
"Brant" is a terrible name
It's a rock climb in Wales you know - http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/c.php?i=2266
Braaap.
No 2-wheeler goes 'Braaap' unless it has an engine in it.

unless you put a plastic drinks carton between your tyre and forks ๐
.... Thus trying to emulate said engine, but failing miserably.

Still not sure i understand the need for bolt on cable guides, surely they cant be any lighter/stronger/neater/cheeper than normal ones?
No, but they can be removed if you run it SS, I 'spose.
Is that for making sure you dont leave any mud behind on the trails and take it home with you? Looks mudtraptastic.
Yeah David. That's exactly why we did it.
Oh my aching ribs.
Ahem. Right. Any mud that's arrived at that point (by virtue of the ridiculous amounts of radial clearance on the seat stays) won't get trapped in that bit, as that bit is already shielded by the front mech.
So the front mech will catch it, and there isn't a lot I can do about that to be honest, well, except the fact that the mud clearance at the seatstays is slightly less than the mud clearance at the chainstays, so that the big stuff gets scraped off up top, rather than down below.

It came about from people asking about Rohloffs, and SS and all sorts. And the fact that a triple top tube cable guide on a ti frame costs a fortune, even before you've welded it on. And I was never very impressed with the fact that you have to weld bits onto ti frames "just" to guide cables.
Ti cable guide - $7.92 even if you buy loads - http://www.paragonmachineworks.com/product_details.php?productId=248&categoryId=4
And once we'd done it on the Ti frame, we thought it would be nice to do it on the others. We still might not. Got to look at options. I like it though. Got my samples through today and when I get 5mins I'll shoot some pics.
brant whats the weight of the steel version?

They've not told me yet.
I thinking mid 5's right now.
Brant, you may have guessed it already but I confirm I WILL be buying one of these!!!! ๐
Ho would it ride with 100 - 120mm forks?
The headangle would obviously be a degree or two steeper but its slack anyway, but would the bb/front end be too low?
It'd be OK David. BB isn't "low" so that's not a problem. As I've said before - all forks are about the same length when they're bottomed out ๐
is that a 'fettlers elbow' chainstay?
Blue Pig??
any connection to the drinking hole by that name down Hebden (ish) way (Mankinholes or somewhere similar?)
Brant, you need a page putting up that explains why the brace isn't a mud trap and why you're (maybe) going for bolt-on guides, so you don't have to explain every time someone mentions the frames!
unless he is using it to develop a muppet filter ๐
Im not bothered about mud clearance as I live somewhere where the trails are still good all winter, however my frame has double the clearance of my forks, especially my older ones in the shape of a nice Italian 'M'.
Fugly gusset twixt Top/down/head. Needs a nice smoothly blended one.

yes.

Love it.

If you can see that when you're on the bike, you've fallen off it..
I have plans for all sorts of head tube area things, but perfectly happy with that for now.

I think in this context it refers to the descent that leads to the pub? To be honest I think I'd prefer to ride that on a full susser. ๐

you've not lived.
Brant, I can do like flat tabletops. Like.

PMSL...the way rides should be.
The first few times I looked at the frame i liked the gusset around the toptube/ downtube area. But the more I look at it the more I have to agree with Scruff. Just looks a bit odd. Have you looked at maybe a cnc'd brace. Something similar to the cnc'd brace on the Airborne Black Widow.... Just a thought....
Brant, this wonder-stay youve designed, will it clear chaindevices and such things? Just i had to take a file to the chaindevice fitted to my 456SS to get it to sit against the ISCG mounts.
If by "you've not lived", you mean "I've not nearly died because I rode a horrible abortion bike down a bumpy off-road track" then yes, I've not lived. Now when's the Clunker Classic this year...
Have you looked at maybe a cnc'd brace.
No (with good reason). Anything CNC'd in there would be just not right.

Yes.
Where are we going to be able to try before we buy?
I love the look of it but I've been caught out before when buying a bike from reviews to find it doesn't suit my (NON) style.
I am liking muchly the disc mount ๐ I am not liking muchly Toby's haircut, make haste with yonder clippers!

You can buy something other than a brant special if you don't like them you know.

Dealers, demo days, Lee Quarry, STW weekender.
There's a dealer that lives near me. Got done for torturing his brother in his sound proof cellar.
I'll bang on his door and see if he's playing out on his push bike.
Brant, if I run a single ring setup, will that mean the nice chainstay brace thingy gets all dirty?

Your shorts and shoes might well get dirty too. Take care out there.
Didn't want to start another new Ragley thread, so slightly O.T.
Any pics of the 16inch Ragley Ti yet?

Drives up our road like a ****in cock though.
Bet he hasn't got any Ragleys in though. Rare sheeet that.
I bet he could beat one out of you though.
LOL at the vid - i've only ever walked down there, many years ago, following several beverages in said hostelry I came back up as the tandem went down - a touch ragged..... ๐
That head tube brace - my eyes!!
That headtube gusset...Mr Moliterno will want his pound of flesh (standard STA for the non bmx geaks).
