[Closed] Raceface chainring tabs or shorter bolts for 1x11? (AB n/w chainring)

Converting XT 3x9 to 1x11 using existing crank.

I have an absolute black NW chainring inbound http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/black-by-absoluteblack-narrow-wide-single-chainring/rp-prod131088

Does anyone know if the Raceface tabs fit the AB chainring ok? I fancy the cleanest look and it would negate the need for shorter bolts.

If not, I assume it's just shorter single ring bolts that I need? 6.5mm x M8?

Thanks for any help.

I'd go for single ring bolts (and nuts). IIRC, Raceface tabs have a slight curve to the edge that buts up to the crank that may or may not play nice with non-Raceface cranks.

Yeh I was worried about them not fitting perfectly. Anyone using them with Shimano cranks with a pic?

Cheers.

I have two packs of RF short bolts new in packets if you’re interested as of no use to me since my build as ordered two spare packets not realising that my atlas cranks came with a set in box the correct length.

Message me if in need 🙂

My AB Chainring came threaded for bolts, which if is the case for you, you will not be needing shorter bolts.

Yes, this is contrary to the most of the photos on CRC, nut possibly not the last one. I'd wait until it turns up before buying anything, or give them a call.

Are you sure they are the short ones? I can't see any RF short bolts out there at all, only the 10mm long ones and the inner ones. Where did you get them?
Thanks for the offer, will let you know if I want them.

The00,I think the 32t and 30t AB chainrings are threaded, the 34t not so.

Hmmm, interesting. Thanks for clarifying. You're clearly stronger than me 😆

@papamountain - I have both packets to hand now.
1 set states “chainring bolt/nut pack outer 5 bolt”. (5 pack)
Other set states “bashguard, poly, fastener kit”. (4 pack)

I purchased iirc from wiggle a few years back along when I purchased my atlas fr cranks.
I’ll await a message hoping that this sorts you out. 🙂

@tdog Thanks again. I don't think either of those are the short ones. (6.5mm long)

The bashguard ones are definitely too long, they still sell them at crc they are for fitting a bash instead of a 2nd ring - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/race-face-poly-bashguard-fastener-bolt-kit/rp-prod46947

And i would assume the other ones are these (pack of 5) - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/race-face-outer-ring-bolt-set/rp-prod15231

Which are also too long (10mm) and for fixing an outer ring and middle ring together.

I think anyway...

Yes think you’re correct in thinking this too now I checked.
Would have been helpful if the packaging stated how long they measure rather than lead me to assume that the bash ones would fit. 🙄

No worries 🙂
Hope you get sorted soon.

Iirc Identiti make short chain ring bolts, as I have some on the ss.

Aye. Thanks again for offering. I ordered the tabs, if they look shit I will just move them on and get the short bolts. Just need my shifter and chainring to turn up now... 🙂
