Bit shite, innit.
Brand new bike not even a month old, and 6 rides in the BB now has play.
I'd heard the RF ones are crap, but hoped for more than this!
Looking at a XTR replacement.
I've had decent luck with RF ones. 6 weeks is probably warrantiable, speak to the shop and see what they can do.
MB - i did think of that, but they'll either replace with the same or upgrade (Hope) with some additional cost to me. A XTR from CRC is £25 so might just bite the bullet. 😐
My raceface was alright... XT was a bit better (XTR no better than XT imo- they are different inside but they seem to last about the same).
I've not used a gusset ext24 on a raceface but I'd assume it'll work. That'd be my choice- more servicable than Shimano and not as expensive in the short or long runs as Hope.
I have RF BB's with life in terms of years that have plenty of riding to their credit.
The RF BB thing is ancient history and fixed. I'm guessing yours was badly installed. Speak to whoever you bought it from...
or send the cups to BETD and they put fresh bearings in (that are bluddy indestructable)

edhornby - good idea
Been a very long time since we've had any issues with RF BBs, i'd suspect an installation problem such as unfaced or overwidth BB shell, or damaged top-hats causing misalignment. Probably best to get these things checked out before spending money upgrading, if something is on the wonk, it'll take out the new BB too.
Before you get fussy on install, I'll be prising the seals off the bearings and see how much crap is in there, to save wasting time on installation woes. Thats what kills BB's this time of year. If you want to swop for an XT, then take it back to the shop, tell them. If its knacked them it will cost them peanuts trade price to buy and fit one.
I was rather thinking the shop would be checking for installation issues when they change it, seeing as it's only a few weeks old.Start taking things apart yourself, and you're unlikely to get it warrantied.
