Currently have a 42 and would like to go lower.

Will a Goatlink and a sunrace 11- 50 cassette be everything I need? I do have a spare Shimano free hub.

Does anyone do a 10 - 50 if I decide to leave my XD driver on?

I'm running a Garbaruk 10-50 xD that I'm rather pleased with. Got it from Gone Biking Mad if you want light and funky. They can be supplied with a mech cage extender plate which is also really nice. Might as well go the whole hog and get the jockey wheels as well then. 😉

I don't see any reason why the cage wouldn't also work with the heavier but cheaper Shimano Deore 11-51 11 speed cassette.

What size chainring are you running ? could you afford to lose a couple of teeth off that instead ?

Garbaruk 10-48t here as well. Nice bit of kit. I was looking at the ztto 9-46 cassettes which would work with stock rear mech, but was worried about clearance on the chain stays. The 10-48t cassette was so I could use a medium cage rear mech rather than a long cage.

The rear mech can also be changed to either a SRAM or Shimano 12 speed to gain the extra capacity. I'm running an shimano slx derailleur with my SRAM X01 11s shifter. The slx RD was £45 so might be cheaper than the extra cage/pulley wheels would be to modify you existing mech. The clutch works better as a bonus!
