Crack on, I've done plenty of red routes on my CXer...

I do get off on the stupid steep rock jumps mind ๐Ÿ˜€

Done that, plus the GT black and Inners XC routes on my CX bike 2 years ago - riding blind was probably the best strategy as I didn't know what was coming! Nearly got caught out down Caddon Bank when I was over the drop off before I realised

Try it on a brakeless fixed track bike if you really want to push your self.

I prefer the Blue at Glentress when using the CX option.

Yeah, to be honest the red track is too bumpy. Had very sore hands by the bottom of spooky woods! Did catch a few of the jumps though

Blue was fun - Blue Velvet, Berm Baby Berm, the ones down to ghe car park, the Admiral etc were all perfect for it.

Got some new Strava PRs on the climbs too!

Is it not what they're designed for?

That's why I'm sat in front of my computer now-I'm not intending leaving it until my entry application is in & they don't even open until next week! ๐Ÿ˜‰

That looked about as much fun as being repeatedly kicked in the balls

Disappointed the CXer didn't use the log as a jump to clear the bloke laying down on the ground.

Someone on here has some footage of me doing the descent to Ladybower Res on my CX. It was rather slow and mincy although I suspect that was more rider limit than bike limit.

I did however overtake Hora on the Rushup Edge descent later in the day. He'd stopped to walk his full sus off a small drop... ๐Ÿ˜‰

A bunch of us did a loop round the Roych and back over Cut Gate on cross bikes a few years ago. It was fine in a slightly bumpy, rattly, crashy sort of way.

Thing is, because there's no front end dive, they're actually pretty predictable off steps and drop-offs and, if you're on the drops, it's quite hard to go over the bars I think.

It was nice when it stopped. ๐Ÿ˜

For the OP,

Blew my hand right off the bars doing the black drop on falla brae though, luckily managed to keep it upright using my nuts as a support.

Nice work!
I've got SPDs on mine. Had a lot of visions of broken ankles.

They do help actually, can use bad technique to just pull the back wheel up for bunnyhops/jumps.

I once dented the fuel tank of a GSXR600 with my balls. Luckily I ****ed my leg so badly I didn't notice the ball pain due to the leg agony

Until you can show pictures on Helvelyn on a penny farthing, with no pedals I'm not interested.

Have heard of people doing the Mary Townley Loop on a CX bike. I always use a Full Suspension 29er for that, or anything similar, sometimes much less rough trails than that.

I remember a few years back a bunch of us on our full sus enduro wagons debating how best to ride that set of rocky steps towards the end of the Glentress black when a chap on a Surly cross bike rode right past us, over the rocks and on down without even a pause.

Unbelievable what some people can get away with. Either they've got the strength to take the high impacts of riding rough stuff with that type of bike, or they've got mega skill, or both. I've got neither and even riding a full suspension 29er hurts enough sometimes.

Yeah, I've done that. Not really something I'd choose to do again to be honest although that said, I did a large section of PBW and MTL on the CX bike today. Started on Rooley Moor Road, over Deerplay and Extwistle then left it and kept going north.
