Does anyone know of any Pump tracks near derby?
We have a few BMX tracks, but i'm keen to try a proper mountain bike pump track.
cheers
Lee Quarry one is very good. Bit of a trek from Derby tho
Apart from BMX tracks being a bit wider and bigger, what's the difference?
a pump track is made to be ride able without pedalling, as far as i aware. so you can keep going around and around, practicing pumping. A good workout apparently, and good for the skills.
There's actually 2 in Lee Quarry now, 100 yards apart. Then if you want to use your new found skills you can go and play in Cragg quarry.
Woburn has a good one though may be a bit far away from Derby.
bolehills in sheffield...
let me know if you're coming, i'll pop the kettle on 🙂
None in Derby, but I know of 3 in Edinburgh.
There is one in Telford...
where in Edinburgh Surrounded By Zulus? I know only one in Mussleburgh.
Rode past the one at Dalby the other day... looked superb. Would have stopped for a play but I was doing a flier...

Surely the one at Musselburgh is a BMX track, it was in the past and was upgraded as a BMX track. There is one at Hailes quarry park, but it's not very good as a pump track as it's to big and on to much of a slope. The other one I know of is at Drylaw, another renovated BMX track, it's rubbish at being either.
There is one being planned at the VAT run out at South Queensferry and another being planned for Craigmiller Park.
I hope the designers go to look at the one at Cardrona.

Thanks. We (SingletrAction) negotiated permission for that, designed and built it. It's our third after Stainburn which is a bit crackered and quite tough but due for a major re-vamp if all goes well meeting a potential sponsor on Friday.
Then we built Thackley (and extended it 6 months later) which is a great track.
Dalby is good but it still needs some tweaks and mods to be better.
Some of the lads did a tour of some tracks in the NE, see write up here: http://www.singletraction.co.uk/index.php?fn_mode=fullnews&fn_id=135
You get many different takes on pump tracks. Some are jumpier, some are small, others are big. Personally (as I can't jump for toffee) I like the flowing ones which you can keep looping, sort of hamster-in-a-wheel. Good for skills and fitness.
There's one in the hope valley, not sure exactlky where but you could ask the monkeyspoon lads who built it, or Si @ 18 bikes might know
umm all good info, but none near derby to cycle too : /
cheers
