This April is the 3rd edition of the TransTaurus MTB marathon, held in the resort of Kemer, near Antalya in Turkey and traversing part of the Taurus mountain range.
I participated in the 2017 edition (there's been a 2 year break since) which was held in November and had a really good time. I have a write up on MTB Marathon. This time being in late April I expect a lot more sunshine!
The organisation is top notch and the long sustained climbs make for some great training.
Here's a few highlights:
- 1 day prologue (rumoured to be a TT) and 3 days in the mountains
- 2 events, the Epic (146km, 6000m) and the Challenge (85km 3000m)
- eBike category
- Prices from 100US$ for full event support, photos/videos, airport transfers
- Event discounted 5 and 4 star hotels (all inc.) or a budget B&B option
- Economic off-season direct flights from the UK to Antalya with Easyjet, Jet2, etc
- Sun-tannable, sea-swimmable, cold beer swiggable temperatures in the mid/high 20s at beach level!
Registration is now open at www.transtaurus.net
I'm not affiliated with this event but simply had a really great time in 2017.
Any questions about the event are best sent to the organisers via their website or Facebook page. They speak fluent English.
Thanks for reading, I hope to see you there!
