Not sure I'd seen them this cheap before: https://www.planetx.co.uk/?gclid=CjwKCAiAs8acBhA1EiwAgRFdw3ViRtaCiPzvfLGoIQ_5slZkcPXQduJx3eeYOQTrpxMIOjdYlyO1BBoCxWEQAvD_BwE

This deserves more attention

I almost feel like n+1ing it even though I have no need. £1000 for a titanium bike? It seems crazy not to.

Certainly looks a good deal but that top tube makes me want to bleach my eyes and SX is terrible.

Given the inherent challenges and expertise in welding titanium, I find it very hard to believe that frame is any good if they can afford to sell a complete bike at that price.

Maybe I’ve just been burnt by every bike I’ve bought from PX being a piece of poo though.

Oh yeah! Sure it said SX earlier, must be going mad! That's an even better deal then, although that top tube.....

I can't buy another Titus to join my road bike Modena, two Supermoto frames and an immaculate Rockstar full XT secondhand as it was so cheap but going out of fashion
My cars are the same I've 3 BMW Z4
I might need therapy

Anyone bought one last week/week before?
I’d be fuming.

Why? It's not like almost every manufacturer (and especially P-X) doesn't have end of line / end of season sales.

Good job all available funds are going into a house move, or I may have been forced to buy myself an early christmas present 🙂

Thank god I'm smack bang in the middle of medium and large and my work would take an age with bike to work or I'd be sorely tempted even though I have zero need of another bike

Its a Titus frame with a life time warranty (for what that's worth)

I think they are selling them off cheap because they just haven't sold well. People can't get past the headtube angle etc.

I'm extremely tempted but I've got to resist

What's going on with the brewers droop top tube end? Are the cheap because someone tig welded the wrong tubeset together?

I have to say that looks a great deal. Ugly though, and would need a Paul singlespeed tensioner... mercifully I have just bough a much prettier titanium bike, so I will pass this time.

Very nearly bought a frmae only when they were £500, but a grand for a whole bike is amazing value.

Anyone bought one last week/week before?
I’d be fuming.

I had this with a Pro Carbon Evo. Mine was a black friday bargain and then they reduced them even further*. After I came on here to moan about it and people to told me to stop acting like a child and pull myself together! I did, and was still happy with the price I'd paid with the extras I got.

*Only for a few days though, they seemed to pull the deal after I'd moaned about it...

Two good bike deals on successive days, yesterday it was the Corsa Rival 22 road bike for the same price.

Hoping there might be a clucking good deal in the coming days.

What will the price do post Xmas? If they're that cheap now how on earth will they make an offer in 2023 - how long before they start paying you to ride them LOL

Just need a Tempest to be that cheap - ideal commuter. Unfortunately, this Silk road isn't much different to my 90's rigid MTB that's loaded for the commute.

What bikes exactly, as I've had a load and never an issue.

I'd suspect the same as damascus said, they're just a bit unfashionable. Not being brand snobbish is easy, but the market for bikes with 26mm clearance must be pretty small when even racers are running 28mm tyres.

Not sure why an adventure bike doesn't have a fork with 3 bolts for cargo cages?

Selcof Carbon 27.5+ or 29er Fork / Matt Black

Its possible that px have just missed it off but can't see them in the photo either.

I know they have them as I emailed last week and the forks are £200 and available if you order a frame.

I guess they are more expensive so it would be an added extra (via email)

Just be a little careful, the title and description says GX, but the cassette and chain and NX and SX respectively. This was the same with my El Viajero.

@ Damascus

Not sure why an adventure bike doesn’t have a fork with 3 bolts for cargo cages?

I asked about forks before I bought the silkroad frame

Here’s the reply from px

Hope you're well today,

The fork sold with the Whippet is a standard MTB fork, rather than the 3-bolt version sold with the Silk Road as a complete bike.

Kind regards,

Fwiw I built mine up with GX parts and the Geoff bars. Really enjoying the bike.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that too... But honestly, all the Titus/PX frames are really nicely made (by Waltly I believe who are masters at Ti), nice details, no corners apparently cut. The aesthetics on the Sil Road are a little challenging with the bent top tube but I've a Goldrush and an El Viajero that look the part as well as being incredibly well made.

PX's business model is how and why they are so cheap... They buy in bulk, sell with small margins, and are ruthless at clearing out lines that aren't selling well... I looked into getting a custom frame from Waltly myself and their price for one frame was more than I could get basically the same thing from PX with Titus written on it for... I then looked into Waltly's discounts, and if they're making 50+ of the same frame in a production run, their discount is in the order of 50%, so I guess it's probably even higher in the magnitude that PX order them...

The Silk Road seems to have been a victim of fashion, hence they've tried various different builds (including drop bar builds) to try and shift the remaining frames and now are just straight up discounting the hell out of it! I certainly don't have any need for one, but at £999 it's almost tempting just to have sat as another garage (living room!) ornament! 😂

Does look a great deal, I assume it's cheap because it's absolutely ****ing hideous? But changing hte forks would do a lot for that. No cure for the top tube though.

(aside but is the Wrekker the same frame as the Titus Loco Moto? Looks similiar and has about the same blurb)
