I thought that too, but I don't have any experience of them to be confident.

we've got two from 8+ yrs ago. Only used a few times, but they've been reliable and tough enough. You still have to take care with your packing.
That's a great price even if it does live in the loft most of it's life.

I've had one of their bags for years, starting to show its age now but its been a great piece of kit.

How are they size wise? Seen measurements but they're always a touch subjective, would one take a 21" enduro bike with 29er wheels ?

That is a bargain...almost tempted to get a spare!

would one take a 21" enduro bike with 29er wheels

I reckon that might be a bit of a squeeze. Doubt the wheels would fit in the wheel pockets but I guess they don't have to. Frame might just fit but reckon bars/stem with have to come off....I guess the bigger the frame, the more bits you need to remove. I can get my medium 26" frame in with just wheels off and bars turned

Anyone know if it will take a road bike without removing the handlebars?

i've had one for 8 yrs + and used it for numerous trips abroad(6 trips to canada, 1 x brazil, 8 to Europe) and its still going strong and no damage to bikes.(although I used plenty of pipe lagging on the frame) £32 is a bargain imo.

As nuke says, I think the weirdo wheels wouldn't fit in the pockets- although they would fit inside bag.

mr rodgers, i think you would need to take the bars off unless you have a really short top tube.

They weigh a bit, anyone have any trouble at the airport with a dh bike stowed in one?

P-X bag, + Alpine 160, some extra cardboard and bubble wrap and a few hand luggage incompatible bits and pieces = bang on the 30kg limit we had for Emirates flying to India.

Even the Evoc ones are 8kg, so you're always going to be looking at a similar weight.

I've had ones without wheels before and they are a pain. Trolleys are not always around when you need one.

I now have a CRC one, with wheels.

I saw these on thursday and waited for the price drop on friday, only to find they had increased the price. The bags are still in the price drop sale which does'nt end until Sunday. As nickdavies said - bugger!

Mine arrived today 😆 Is there a guide on how to pack them? Or does anyone have a picture of their bag with it fully packed?

Mine arrived today - looks a little smaller than I expected. I had hoped to be able to get the bike in with only front wheel off - too ambitious?

well the length of the bag is the same as the wheelbase of my bike so for me that definitely wouldn't be possible!

Glad it's not just me who was slightly confused by that definition of price drop.

As others have said, yes too ambitious. The max dimensions allowed by most flight companies/ Eurostar etc is 120cm and the bag would need to be bigger than that to keep the rear wheel on. Also be a bugger to get in a car.

Only disappointing thing having just received mine is I can't get my wheels (with Mud-X tyres) in the wheel pockets even with the zips fully opened. Anyone else struggle with this? Perhaps it is just the tyres???

deflate them -partially not fully is enough for my Minions.

Reluctant to deflate them as the Mud-X beads pop off the rim quite easily and there will be wheel jizz everywhere 😕 Doesn't seem like there's any way around it though

Treat your bike like it needs to be treated. Weight - around 7kg - though bear in mind you rarely get them weighed as you just whisk them to "outsize baggage".
Yes, it has no wheels, but wheeled bags can be heavy, expensive and aren't very easy to pull around. We'd rather use nice luggage trolleys.

Some fine marketing BS here 🙂

You're right about that... Lugging my old Planet X bag across central London on the tube nearly finished me off before I even got to Heathrow, I'd have killed for some wheels! They're right about the oversize baggage though, I was well over double the limit and didn't get charged (BA).

Are they b*ll*x. Youve just said your bag was weighed, when P-X claim

you rarely get them weighed as you just whisk them to "outsize baggage".

The fact BA didn't charge is at their discretion. It's down to the handler on the day, Ive known an Easyjet rep in Luton let a bag that weighed nearly 50kg on with no extra charge just a conspirational wink, and Ive known an entire group flying out of Bristol get hit with excess baggage charges.

I'm amazed anything over 32 gets through anywhere due to it being the max they can lift. Ours get weighed on every check-in bar 1 so far and again sometimes at the oversize counter.

Good for the price crap for the weight. You get wheels, rigid struts and more protection in exchange for more money with evoc, one decent excess charge will be about the difference. I tried the planet x one, not going there again 🙂

we were amazed too. I think the rep fancied the customer (not me, he was far younger and better looking).

I've got a P-X and after about 10 years its getting a bit worn, but still useable. Nothing else around as good for the money (loads of companies sold the same bag re-branded for more). DHB did a similar looking bag that was larger, I also had one of those, the extra volume was only a nuisance. The cheap Merlin bag is no where near as padded and is more basic all-round (eg. wheel pouches are just that, pockets that dont even fully enclose the wheel let along zip closed).

No I didn't. I weighed the bag before I set off. 🙄
Maybe I should have said "in my experience" but I forgot about the STW pedantry.

Not really STW pedantry (assuming that is some unreasonable phenomena), but yes maybe you should have been clear,as you said

They're right about the oversize baggage though, I was well over double the limit and didn't get charged (BA).

when you meant

They're right about the oversize baggage though, I was well over double the limit and they didnt weigh my bag at the airport(BA

the difference is significant, not idle pedantry.

Also, it would be helpful if somebody could post a couple of photos with a bike all packed up inside there.
I'm gutted I slept on the offer but really seems like the bag I'm looking for so close to or dinging anyway now.
