I have tried both firmwares on the pinnacle app but when using it with indie velo i am getting no difference in gears and still need to move through the gears a lot wjen the gradient on tbe course changes.
I compared the readings from the power on my chainset (4iii) real-time while riding and the 4iii was showing about 10% higher power reading ish. I am thinking of trying another type of trainer program as i am thinking the software in the program itself converts the power readings with its own software.
Thread resurrection…..Did anyone ever make this work fully with Rouvy?

That's normal, all the firmware options do it change how abruptly the resistance changes and how it deals with fluctuating power output.
Some people want an unrealistic flat line on the graph which can feel pretty brutal and tends to also mean it overshoots the start and end points of the interval.
Other people want it to smoothly transition to the new power and then react a bit more naturally so if they slack off a second they just reaccelerate gently, not suddenly find it's a brick wall to climb back upto the setpoint.

Crank/pedal based power is always a couple of percent higher due to drivetrain losses. 4iii might be a bit more off because it's single sided and people are rarely symmetrical so it might just be your left leg is naturally a bit stronger or your right leg is a bit lazier on the upstroke.

Not tried it, but was almost tempted to get it out again for the winter after Saturday's biblical rain!
Exactly my thoughts!
I have dug this out again and have looked back at this old thread with regards to setting this model trainer up. I have used it with mywoosh recently and it was pretty simple to connect. I am still under the impression the power reading is a little low. It's reading and cadence is fine but the power is looking 10% lower than my 4iii power meter. Of course the 4iii might be reading high but am wondering is there any set up, calibration etc that can be done with the pinnacle. As I understand the software on mywoosh for example with interpret this data anyway so it's not going to be a standalone thing with the pinnacle. I haven't used other direct drive trainers so was wondering is there anything else that may need to be done or explored to optimise the set up. Maybe try another smart trainer software although I previously used indie velo and am sure the readings were the same as this so it may be that this all fine and my readings are just pretty low. The pinnacle app I think has been removed from Google play but looks available online still?
I used to have this trainer and agree with what thisisnotaspoon said. It’s highly likely to underread due to drivetrain losses. My Kickr core also does this in comparison to my crank power meter.
Thanks, yes that makes sense. I think factoring that in it's still under but not drastically so. Not sure what else I can do as all is set up well I think and pretty clean.
