Just be aware that the cranks don't come with the bb, as they are usually sold with it included.

Those cranks are a kin bargain alright.

Does anyone know if the indicator windows on the SLX shifters are removable?

And would anyone be interested in buying the left hand shifter for £12 if I bought the pair?

It seems to be quite common for 10 speed cranks to not come with a BB.

SLX brakes ordered. Was tempted by XT but want 2 sets so both bikes have the same brakes and I can add the free stroke with an M4 screw.

Shifter windows are removable but you will have to buy the base plates seperately if theyre uk spec...mainland eu ones come with them for some reason?!

The SLX brakes show 950mm for both front and rear hoses, is that right or just a typo?

Surely that's not long enough for a rear hose?

Yesterday I was thinking 'I'd really like 2x10 on my Solaris same as my FS' and now I have 🙂 Price difference between XT and SLX is way bigger than the difference in performance.

Full new drivetrain (mix of SLX and XT) plus chainrings for £80.

Brilliant PSA and my new build is going to run much smoother now.

Quick question, will the SLX brakes work with Hayes Nine discs? Our should I get the Shimano discs too?

If I was to buy a pair of those XT brakes, would I need any extra fittings to trim the hoses? Do they come with extra inserts?

That's cheaper prices than we (as a small rural bike shop) can buy the stuff from our suppliers.

just got my SLX brakes and they are not fitted with the finned pads that I am sure the photo showed. No way to check though as they have removed the item from their website now. hmm

The SLX did not specify, but the XT did say so ordered XT. Just received the XT without the finned pads, feel like a bit of a mug right now. Still they were a bargain, so not like I will complain, just not impressed by Ribble.

You should complain.

so the XT didn't come with them either? Did you get the spare olive and inert? By the time you add up the cost of a new olive/insert etc it makes the XT about the same price.

tbh I seriously doubt I need the finned pads but it's just annoying to not get what you paid for. The picture on the ribble email shows the finned on both SLX and XT.

At least the rear hoses look longer than the front ones.

oh and I called them up to ask about it and didn't exactly get an amazing response. I didn't go demanding they put it right and giving the a chance to see if was just an error. I would have bought XT had I known but they are out of stock.

My SLX clutch mech and XT 11-36 arrived today, not surprisingly it's oem gear and the cassette sprockets were rattling and loose so not packaged well.

Still, as long as it functions as it should, i'm a happy customer.

I didn't expect anything other than oem really and that's fine by me.

In terms of the brakes, my Merlin ones didn't come with finned last time either.

Olives and inserts cost me about £6 so all in still far cheaper than XT.
