Within minutes of posting a Planet X PSA on these forums, they suddenly "sell out" or mysteriously increase in price.

There was only 3 pairs available when I looked. At that price it's no surprise they went quick?

Websites often use auto pricing algorithms that increase pricing as stock reduces if an item is selling rapidly. You've no doubt witnessed some of the craziness this can
Lead to on Amazon and similar sites.

Wheels turned up today. Not bad at all for the price. You need rim tape though. 🙂

Did anyone else's arrive ?

Nope - got an email yesterday saying there was a problem with my order.

They asked me to pay an extra £55.00 (bringing total £79.99) - I politely declined!

Thats a bit shady. Looks like I got lucky. What was the reason for trying to increase the charge?

Just that they were listed wrong and the selling price was £79.00. Looks like you did get lucky!

Not that fussed though - it saved me an argument with the Mrs!

Just spotted this.

Is it an admission from Planet-x that they use a demand led pricing structure and also that it failed on this occasion?

It's not an admission or acceptance of anything. Simply highlighting that curious pricing isn't unusual.

In this case it seems to have been a simple user error.

That price was obviously wrong. Why didnt someone say alert the seller rather than pile in? Abit dishonest.

I don't want this to turn into a Planet-X bashing thread! I've had great service from them and On-One over the years.

And Hora - it's not unusual for Planet-X to do silly cheap offers. And these were a budget wheelset to start with. If they'd been listed at 99p or something you may have a point.

@Speshpaul, I'm on holiday this week, hence the vagueness, were I at work I'd have an answer. If muffin-man got a mail saying they were priced incorrectly then I would assume that to be the correct. The wheels in question are a bit of a NOS classic so I'm not surprised there was also very limited stock.

I don't think price was obviously wrong.

I've bought loads of stuff which has had 75%+ off, just needed to be cleared by the retailer. This could have been exactly that.

Got my package from on one today, ordered 2 pairs of socks amongst other things and even though cross checked and signed by the picker there were only 1 pair.

Don't know how they sleep at night.

Probably best to just enjoy your hollybobs, if that's the level of customer assistance you're aiming at.

Somewhere, Brant is crying.

...or partying with lesbians at a lucha libre event.

Trying to swap a Shimano HG50 Cassette onto the Miche Freehub Body and it's no happening. I know one spline is a different size but i've tried for 30 mins now and can't get them to line up. Definitely sold as Shimano compatible...

Karma??......

Unfortunately, Junkyard's post has been stricken from the record for using hashtags.

RIP Junky's post.

No the free hub is definitely a Miche/Bianchi Specific Spline.

Only takes a M Type Cassette. Click the link you'll see it at the very bottom of the webpage .

So pretty much a complete planetx screw up then.

Well, at least they haven't made themselves look dodgy as well.

some honesty in the description that they were incompatible with 99% of the cassettes on the market?

Don't be so naive, everybody knows that if you spend £24.99 they are allowed to describe things incorrectly, it's the way the world works.

Utter bollocks. Hence why they're legally obliged to describe things accurately.

Not strictly true. There's different rules applying to distance selling.
I've bought loads of stuff on the internet that I wouldn't have if I'd seen it first.

If it didn't match the description you were entitled to send it back.

It's just a wee bit shady that they tried to up the price to other buyers before sending out. The fact they didn't realise they weren't compatible with shimano cassettes doesn't fill you with confidence. I mean I can't really moan as I did receive the wheels at the price advertised but I'm in no rush to go and buy a compatible cassette for them.

I'll check tomorrow but I think it's more of a case of there being a mixed batch of freehubs on these rather than all being Miche.

sq225917 did you get an answer on the freehubs?

I'm struggling to find a compatible cassette that'll fit on the spline.
