I've really been enjoying my Jawbreakers with Prizm Trail lens, so much so that I am really tempted to replace my 100% goggles with some Oakley Airbrake goggles with the Prizm Lens. My local shop has some Oakley Airbrakes in with Prizm Trail Lens or some Greg Minnaar sig ones with a Prizm Black Lens...
Does anyone have any experience with the Prizm Black Lens? Annoyingly the set with the Prizm Trail Torch lens have an awful band IMO, the Greg ones have a nice band. Putting them to my face in the shop I could tell the blacks were different, slight less contrasting, but no idea how this transfers to the trails going in and out of the shade/woods vs standing in a store just looking around!
No experience of those particular lenses I'm afraid, but this seems quite a good explanation:

Sounds like Prizm Black comes under the Prizm Everyday banner. Trail ones might give you a bit of extra contrast etc.
Are they prizm black or prizm road black?
For off road use, with really 'poppy', the world is a bright and happy place, feel Prizm Trail is the best.
Prizm Trail torch turns down the brightness a surprising amount. I think insecure Americans wanted a lens that looked less pink. It's still really good off road but the original prizm is better.
Prizm Road is a lot darker and I don't find it works well in the woods at all - I've picked up my Jawbreakers with that lens in by mistake and couldn't work out why I couldn't see properly. Prizm Road black would be the same but worse.
I've also got some 'everyday' prizm grey lenses and they're very neutral - nothing like the Trail lenses - if its' everyday black they'll be like that but darker.
@tonyd thank you, will have a read of that, I did google the lens but not much came up
@b33k34 I dont think they are Prizm road black, heres a linky to the advert, why would they put road ones in signature MTB goggles? Think I might go back with my Prizm Trail glasses and look like a fool comparing them to each!
Assuming it's the same tint as the one they put ion the sunglasses, the Prizm Black lens has a VLT value of 11% which is probably great for South Africa or the Alps above the tree line on a sunny day but will be too dark for general use in the UK.
However there is a Prizm MX Black too which is in some MX goggles, which is 22% VLT.
Prizm Trail is 36% as a comparison.
Is Prism Trail on its way out? Was only showing me one option for glasses that can come with it.
I just really want clear anyway 🙁
I had some prism trails and didn’t get on with them. They are supposed to enhance reds and greens to help with definition. As some one who is slightly red green colour blind any help with reds and greens is good news. It was an experiment that failed miserably and they sent everything into greyscale for me and actually made it harder to read the trail. Just a consideration
Is Prism Trail on its way out?
It appears so, Prizm Torch seems to be widely available instead, chart previously linked says only 1% difference in LVT so seems quite similar.
Looking at the LVT chart and the black lens only doing 11% I'm going to swerve the Greg airbrakes with black lens, actually going to pick up some airbrakes with the low light lens and then pick up the Trail or Trail Torch separately, should work out around the same cost as the Gregs but get an extra lens.
I tend to just leave the Prism Low Lights in my Jawbreakers all year round. I cant remember the last time I used the Prizm Trail in the UK
@Tracey Interesting, maybe I'll pick up the goggles with the low lights and see how I get on before picking up the Prizm Trail.
The low lights are really good for most riding.
I do like the original trails for when it is bright out though.
