Prescription riding glasses swappable lens

Looking for some prescription riding glasses with (preferably) swappable lenses with the prescription insert behind for cycling and sailing. I wear varifocals for any difference it makes. Eyes are such that it's easier to get a flat lens than a crazy curved one hence prefer inset options with wraparound outer lens.

Online sources and any particular recommendations for a wide head greatly appreciated.

I've recently bought some Rudy Project Cutlines with a gold mirror coating from Merlin cycles. Then bought a clear lens and a photocromic lens from here - https://www.bikeloungeonline.com/collections/cutline-lenses? Had never heard of them but took a punt and lenses were delivered next day!

Then I bought a prescription insert from extreme eyewear.

They seem great but I haven't ridden in them yet....

I’m using tifosi Rails with various swappable lenses and a prescription insert. Also have a pair of podium XC with a narrower, mirrored lens that takes the same insert.

their UK website often has the odd discount, or they pop up on Amazon. IIRC I bought the insert from Fawkes cycles online, than got it glazed by select specs…

I got a set of Melons with the prescription insert for this reason. They are horribly overpriced. A few years back when the price was lower and they came with zeiss lenses it was probably a good deal, but they now have generic plastic lenses which aren’t as good and they pushed the price up.

if I had to buy a new set today I’d get one of the madison ones. They’re not as flashy, but they tick all the boxes, and an insert for prescription is only £5 instead of £45.

I use the Vigor glasses better than RX inserts, I can get you £10 off as well not much but helps.

I've had some Rudy Project Rydons for many years, they've been fine. Usual misting issues that you always get with an insert, but my prescription means that direct glazing is not an option. I've actually stopped swapping the lenses as I just leave the photochromic ones in.

@windyg - I've looked at these in the past. How prone are they to misting up between the two lenses? I've had RX inserts in the past and they were a pain for this for me...

(code FACEBOOK30% gives you 30% off which makes them ~£150)

Only time they have misted up is when it was very cold and I had a buff right up to the glasses other than that they have been fine.

Thanks all.  I'll do a bit more searching about with that info.  🙂

With the inserts a couple of people mentioned is that just the frame to get someone else to glaze?

One place I was looking said + £70 for varifocals, which seemed super cheap given lenses for my good daily glasses are a lot more than that.

I’ve struggled myself with prescription riding glasses, then our lbs recommended me Madison crypto glasses, comes with 3 different lenses as well as optical insert for £60 ,obviously you still have to pay your optician for the actual prescription lens .turned out to be a really good move

I would suggest a transition lense to save the double lense situation and also needing to swap lenses.

I have a bronze varifocal transition lense.

Changes according to the brightness.

Its dark enough for sunlight and light enough.at night for bike riding.

Got mine through RX sport.

They will have a frame to suit your preference.

I had a flatish multi use frame which was fine on the bike including the road bike. So wrap not essential.
