[Closed] Prescription inserts versus prescription lenses?

I've used prescription cycling glasses for years always using full prescription lenses successfully. The problem is I have to replace the full expensive glasses if my prescription changes or have the lenses expensively reframed should I break the frame, both of which have happened.
I'm thinking of using prescription inserts in Addidas Evil Eye glasses this time to separate lens and frame replacement issues does anyone have first hand experience of inserts off road good or bad?

I've used both.

Having gone from inserts to Transitions Prescription direct lenses, I would NOT go back to inserts.

I found they steamed up far too easily and were generally a pain.

They add an extra two surfaces to fog/get dirty and extra weight therefore I never liked inserts. Maybe OK for road riding but I wouldn't know about that.

Thanks that's probably what I expected to hear so I think I'll stay as I am, I appreciate the responses.

It depends what your prescription is.
I use Rudy Project with inserts, and they're just fine. They steam up occasionally if stopped but clear quickly when moving.

Also...you might find your eyelashes touch inserts, which can be annoying...

Rudy Projects with inserts here too. Comfortable, and only have misting problems on really cold days - when some of this http://www.visorvision.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=25 sorts them out. I know the bottle looks expensive at £16 but mine has lasted 5 years so far and will probably outlast me. The only anti-fog I've ever tried that actually works.

I have had Adidas Evil Eyes with inserts and they were crap for all the reasons above. Recently got some Bolle Baller with grey photochromics from RXsport for £180 and they are awesome for mtb and road

Tried inserts didn't get on with them, i find contacts with normal lenses work fine for me though (and if you don't mind the look goggles and contacts actually work very well for me)

Daily disposable contacts + ordinary specs for me .

It's the only time I ever wear contacts.

In my experience of inserts, they give poor peripheral vision because they are usually flat (unlike the curved prescription lenses used for example by Oakley). I found it was difficult to properly see what was behind me when quickly looking behind over my shoulder, because the change in view from the precription insert (and its frame), to seeing through the uncorrected tinted lens, and beyond that to seeing through no lens, created a lot of clutter/interference in my peripheral vision.

I had a very nasty near miss once wearing them when I looked over my shoulder before turning right, and failed to see the car behind me. After that I switched to Oakleys with curved prescription lenses, but contact lenses are much better if you can get on with them.

I've got both Oakley prescription and Adidas Evil Eye with inserts and i'll choose the the Oakleys everytime over the inserts. When I wore contacts I was more than happy with the Adidas but I was advised not to wear them anymore and forgot how the inserts steamed up, got condensation between them and for some reason crap always finds a way to get between the two lenses.
