As above, my mothers ebike is equipped with SRAM EX1 8spd gruppo, I'm trying to find powerlinks for it
Given Shimano's latest XTR has an 11spd option that uses a '12spd' chain, I'm trying to rule out if SRAM haven't gone and invented a new ebike 8spd 'standard' incompatible with the 8spd of old
Their spiel does say that ebikes require powerlocks, not powerlinks, but after my initial search, I can't find any of those without buying a complete chain. Can get 8spd powerlinks for cheap
[Just in case this of any use for anyone searching back in future]
Bought a new EX1 chain as a 0.75% wear replacement.
Turns out it uses a TEN speed powerLOCK (its a ten speed width chain).ย Despite it being an eight speed groupset ..
When out today the quicklink on my 11spd chain broke. Fortunately I had spare.
Unfotunately as I held the ends of the chain together, the mate holding said link dropped it over an adjacent wall into a field! Anyway after much grubbing about in pockets and packs, somebody came up with an 8spd link which worked fine. I did another 25 miles on it with no sign of a problem. So how much does it matter if you don't use the correct spd link? Presumably it wouldn't work if trying a bigger speed link on a smaller speed chain but I really don't know!
