question can a carbon/aluminium frame be powder coated (I know the paint wont take to the carbon)or are they assembled already painted? temperature reaches 200 degrees I understand its more about the resin than the carbon fibre in relation to the heat so im curious if any members have had this done

Powder coating relies on electrostatic for the powder to stick to the frame. Can't see it working on a non metallic material...?

Carbon conducts though so shouldn't it stick to that too?

As to the heat all depends on the resin used in manufacture. I'd check with the manufacturer if I were you.

The resin will most likely be 180C or 120C cure temp, either way 200C will seriously damage it.

UPDATE manufacturer has stated the rear is not powder coated but front is so need to get a paint match for the powder coat if I get it done.

I thought about this last year and the companies I asked wouldn't go near it. Conductivity and high temperature were the issues.

Carbon frames are usually wet painted. Is this not an option?
