Trying to help out my nephew who has a 2nd hand Scott Genius MC. He thinks it's a 05/06 but isn't sure about exact model. He's owed it a few years and has had trouble with the rear shock on and off, and it has now finally given up the ghost. He is looking at getting a replacement 2nd hand but isn't sure if the shock has changed over the years, or whether it is sufficiently different between models.

Obviously the Scott has their own shock fitted.

Does anybody know if he needs to get one from the same model, or will any newer version fit fine?

Hi,
I run the Evans Cycles Suspension Service Centre. We service Scott shocks here and i have a good knowledge of these.
There have been few running changes to the shocks over the years but the main design and size hasn't changed so they are all interchangeable from one bike to the next. The only difference is that carbon framed bikes take a wider upper mounting bush.
There are 'LC' shocks (lockout and full travel, or 'TC' shocks (lockout, half travel, full travel) and either will fit all frames.
If you need to know more please feel free to call us 015397 32262 or email suspensionservicing@evanscycles.com
Thanks
Robin
