Found this review in Bike Radar. Sums up the Pompino nicely.

There's a few Pompino owners on here so if you missed it:

It's a good excuse to post pics of your well used/abused Pompino

bequeathed mine to a m8 years ago....after going from midge bars to flat from the cyclocross calipers to avid mtb

I had the 135 rear frame and some of the OO chrome cranks that were incorrectly specced but lovely....

First set of wheels I ever made and I think I managed an oval rear (m8 complained bitterly about it for years) but 32h halos seemed to be bulletproof...

He abused it for years after I't had broken me singlespeed got me knees in the end.

A nice read. Love that kind of story of dreams/plans vs reality

I really liked mine bought second hand for a pittance, ridden through 2 winters and sold to a mate who uses it as a polo bike for a pittance. Then I replaced it with a Steamroller............Mmmm

Males me think of my inbred. Paid something like £25 for it including a bb. It has an aura of invincibility, somehow protecting all the components that are attached to it.

I think I've now owned 5 Pompinos in the last 15 years. Keep upgrading to "better" bikes with more gears and better steel but I keep coming back.

Latest has had a few quick frame modifications, rear end spaced out to 130mm and a cut-out chain stay bridge to improve mud clearance. Plan on racing it for cross this season.
